Where did ITIL come from?

The copyright ownership of ITIL is the OGC (Office for Government Commerce) in UK. ITIL standard is published in 1980s. It is used to improve the quality of IT project, services and information system management within the UK government. It is to be a common sense framework and best practices in IT service industry as well. ITIL framework enables organization following the methodologies to build up a management policies that fit the standard and organization needs. This framework still keeping up to date by IT/IS community. The last ITIL version is version 3. It was lunched at June 2007.
